More than 60 young Nantes and European citizens met in Nantes for the 9th edition of the Nantes Creative Generations Forum from 25th to 28th October 2017. They came to present 30 original projects which aim to create link, improve quality of life and notion of "living together".

Nantes and European project holders gathered for 4 days in Nantes

The 9th edition of the Forum was a special year for NCG: 30 projects were presented (with 20 from all Europe) among a total amount of 150 applications!

During 4 days they all had the opportunity to exchange and develop contacts with project holders from 17 different nationalities and (almost) the same amount of cities: Dublin, Amsterdam, Katowice, Rome, Bucharest, Naples, Tirana, Odessa, Budapest, Tbilisi, etc.

All these participants are now part of the NCG network that gathers since 2009 young engaged European citizens. The network, that continues to grow, consists today of more than 400 participants!

Diverse and tight programme

2017 NCG edition offered a programme that is more and more adapted to needs of participants. During 3 days their work focused on meeting different projects and preparation of transnational projects.

In the participants’ programme:
- Exchange of experience gained with their local projects
- Workshops on "pitch", "funding opportunities" and "creativity" of a project
- Working on new projects with european dimension
- City visits
- Moments of leisure and cultural discoveries

Testimony: "I didn’t just have the opportunity to present my project but also to consider new projects to implement in my country based on the projects that were part of the forum."

Workshops dedicated to inter-personal relations and the creation of projects with European dimension

Big part of the programme of the Forum was dedicated to workshops and working time in smaller groups. The main goal was to better understand the initiatives, to create and organise transnational projects with two main working issues : "Fundings and Creativity tools". The participants also learnt how to pitch their project in the best possible way.

Testimony : "Sure, some activities were closer to my personal interests and preferences than others, but the overall program was great and I was impressed by how you managed to create an inspirational working environment in such a short time with so many cultural differences."

A discovery time opened to all Nantes citizens

In order to share the NCG event with all the locals, a project opening was proposed to everyone. People could freely come to meet the European and Nantes participants, discuss their projects with them and practice English. About fifty participants gathered for the occasion.

The general public had also an opportunity to participate in two workshops proposed by Maison de l’Europe and CRIJ Pays de la Loire. The workshops were dedicated to international mobility, the possibilities for youngsters to go abroad for an internship or as a volunteer. About thirty participants took part in those workshops.

NCG Cooperation Award 2016-2017 ceremony

The Forum was also a possibility to present award winning projects of the NCG Cooperation Award 2016-2017: "Photoboob", "Area Outside" and "LOAD". This year, the presentations were made in "Pechakucha" format to correspond with the idea of pitching the project.

Each of the 3 laureates received NCG Cooperation award trophy at the City hall, from André SOBCZAK, Vice-president of Nantes Métropole, Deputy Mayor of Nantes in charge of European affairs.

Involvement of NCG on Tour 2017 participants

The Forum also welcomed the young people from Nantes who participated in NCG on Tour. During the summer of 2017, three small groups independently visited Lisbon (Portugal); Budapest (Hungary) and Tirana (Albania) to meet former participants of the Forum and members of the NCG network. The Forum was an opportunity for them to share their experience and present the report they produced after their trip.
